In this year’s BET Awards held at Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, United States on Sunday 26th June, 2016, Folarin Falana, aka, Falz The Bad Guy, bagged the award for the Viewers’ Choice Best International Act Award.
The 16th BET Awards saw different artistes, actors and athletes across 20 categories being honoured. During the event also, tributes were paid to legends like Steve Wonder, Sheiler E, Maxwell, and Erykah Badu. Beyonce did a surprise performance with Kendrick Lamar and also bagged multiple awards courtesy her latest album Lemonade.
It was the first BET Award for Nigerian comedian cum rapper, Falz. He beat other international artistes like Section Boyz (South London), WSTRN (West London), Emtee (South Africa), Tkay (Australia) and MHD (France), to go home with the Viewers’ Choice Best International Act Award.
The “Soldier” crooner who is a lawyer and son of human activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has continued to shine in the entertainment industry with his creativity and ingenuity. He is also known for his hilarious short skits on social media.
Other Nigerian nominees were Wizkid, for the Best International Act Africa which was won by South African Black Coffee.
